Harvest Festival a Harvest Supper. This Sunday (28 Sept) we have our harvest festival in the church. Very informal with favourite hymns, lots where children can join in and followed by Linda’s special Ploughmans complete with cider etc. Biscuits and cordial for kids. The service starts at 6 and you are so welcome to join us then or to drop in at about 6.40 for the ploughmans. On Saturday we will be decorating the church and help is always welcome at about 11am. Also we are collecting non perishable foods etc for the Besom charity for local people in need and they have put in a special plea this year for really staple food – tins, coffee, tea, UHT milk etc. There’s a basket in the church for any gifts. Friday 3 October is the date of the Harvest Supper in the Hall. A team of ladies provide a traditional Supper and Edwyn Mills will host a cabaret type entertainment to show our local talent. It’s a fun evening. You need to buy a ticket from me (01984 623680), Ann (01984 623532)or Elaine (01398 361269). £8 for adults and £4 for children (goes to both churches and the hall). With best wishes Sue Levinge 01984 623680 or email info@bsmanagement.co.uk |

In Praise of Raddington
|
On mornings wild, through wind and rain Across the fields we go, All to sing at Raddington, With voices high or low. We sing full-voiced, the psalms and hymns of Parry, Dykes and Goss (but first we must take off our boots Stuck round with mud and moss). As we fumble with our books Our place by gaslight is found And only Colin's willing feet. |
Make the 'organ' sound. We watch the sky, we watch the rooks, The clouds upon the breeze. And then we find, while singing loud We're swaying like the trees. Dear little church, all by itself At the bottom of the field; Here we gain an hour of quiet, And the souls of men are healed. Marcia Fielden.
